Dual-listed Euro Manganese has secured a key designation for its Chvaletice manganese project in the Czech Republic, strengthening its position as a future supplier of high-purity manganese to the electric vehicle industry.

The project's classification as a strategic initiative underscores its importance in establishing sustainable raw material supply chains in Europe. "This designation represents a significant catalyst for our development timeline and reflects the critical role our project plays in establishing local, sustainable raw material supply chains," said Euro Manganese CEO Martina Blahova.

The Chvaletice project is a waste-to-value initiative that involves reprocessing tailings from a decommissioned mine, offering environmental remediation and critical mineral production. As the only sizable manganese resource in the EU, the project is well-positioned to support the region’s battery industry.

The recognition follows a similar move for European Metals' Cinovec lithium/tin deposit, which was recently declared a "strategic deposit" under the Czech Construction Code. That designation streamlines permitting and prioritises approvals, potentially expediting project development.

Euro Manganese is also exploring an early-stage opportunity in Bécancour, Québec, as part of its broader efforts to establish itself as a leading producer of battery-grade manganese for the global energy transition.
